Every year, freight volumes across New Zealand climb sharply from late November through to just before Christmas, then slow right down over the summer shutdown period. If you're a business that ships regularly, a bit of planning in this window avoids most of the frustration that comes with peak-season freight.
How to plan around it
Book earlier than you think you need to
Our regular North Island runs get busier through December, and last-minute urgent requests are harder to fit in when every truck is already at capacity.
Confirm your recipient will actually be there
Peak season overlaps with businesses closing early for summer. A confirmed delivery window is only useful if someone's on-site to receive it.
Ask about our shutdown dates
Like most freight operators, we take some time off over the holiday period. If your freight is time-sensitive, ask us directly about cut-off dates and when we're back up and running.
Flag anything urgent as early as possible
Same-day and urgent Auckland deliveries are still available through peak season, but availability tightens as trucks fill up.
None of this is complicated, but the businesses that plan a week or two ahead have a noticeably smoother peak season than the ones that don't. If you're not sure what our current shutdown dates or cut-offs are, just call us on 09 444 1243 and we'll talk you through it.
